2D Design - assignment 5 Paint to Music
2D Design - Assignment 4 Unconventional Batik
On the day of the batik trip, we gathered at the bus stop before 9. After we reached the destination, they demonstrated some of the basic techniques for batik drawing. Since our class had went to a batik trip before this, we already knew the basics and the way to do it. We were given a big cloth and each of us are given a part of the cloth. We placed our design below the cloth with masking tape and starts to adjust the placing of the design. Since our drawing needs to be connected we discussed for quite a long time about the placing and we even asked for oppinions from the batik expert. He guide us on the placing of the design and adviced us on the connection of the cloth. After that, we started the canting session and there were some helpers which helps us on refilling the wax and touching up the canting. One of our group members accidentally spilled some hot wax on the cloth and we decided to make it our design and it actually does'nt affects the batik piece much. After we finished the canting, Miss Lisa came to check on us and gave us a suggestion on finishing the body of the animals on different piece so it stands out even if it is on its own.
After that, we starts to paint. We first discussed on the colours we wanted to use for the animals and the colours will be brown for the eagle, red for the snake, green for the frog and golden brown with a slight tint of green for the grasshopper. After the short discussion, we painted our batik piece individually with some comparison between each other to check on the color tones since it needs to be connected. After awhile, Miss Lisa came to check on us again and it appears that one of the batik piece have some problems with the colors. All of us discussed on the ways to change the colors. After some hard work, all of the batik piece is nicely done. Although we are the last group which finishes thr batik, we are still proud of the outcome.
2D Design - Assignment 4 Unconventional Batik.
On the presentation day, we got our batik piece and removed the mounting to connect the pieces. We displayed the batik on the panels and adjusted the connection. After that Miss Lisa took a picture of us and the batik and the explanation starts.
Our batik is actually a food chain which represents the real live. In the working world, the dominance will always be on the top and the minor ones will always be at the bottom. This is much like the world we live in where the people who is much better will be at the higher position. The distribution of animals represents eaxh of us with me the eagle as i am always dealing with birds, cong the snake which he is good at drawing, jialun the frog which he likes to jump around and kokulan the grasshopper as he is always quiet in giving ideas but all in all he is quite creative.
I must say that working with them is a great experience as there were alot of laughter and creativity flowing. The only part i dun like about the batik is the colour run.

Introduction to Business - Reflection essay
Attending this module is basically a fairly good experience. During the participation of this subject, I learned some basics about business. One of the important lessons I learnt in this module is the different types of businesses. Business are categories into 2 main categories which is the the goods producing business and service business. Besides that, there are also business which are not earning profit such as WWF. We also learned that there were a few factors that affects the operations. The external part which affects the operation will be the environment of the business. the environment includes domestic business environment, global environment, technology, economic environment, sociocultural environment and the politic and legal environment. The internal factors which affects the operation is the management process. The management process includes 4 components which is plan, organize, lead and control. The planning is to create a goal and preparing strategies and tactics to reach the goal. Organize is to classify the business into sub-groups with specific purposes. Lead is to inspire and guide the employees to rach the business goal. Lastly, control is to monitor the performance of the business. Another important lesson I learned was the functions and goals of a business. The function of a business is to proovide goods and services, employment, pays tax to the government and provide opportunities for other businesses to serve as its suppliers. During the classes I understands about the ethical and social responsibility issues faced by businesses. This involves the environment, customers, employees and the investors. Businesses will normally have an organizational structure to organize the working departments. Besides that, marketing is also a fator which is important to a business. There are 5Ps in marketing which is the price, product, place, packaging, and promotion. The last topic in this class is the accounting. Accounting is to record all the transactions of a business for decision making purpose. In the final assignment which is the charity drive, I took up the role as the project manager. My job is to search the products at Tao Bao and make comparisons between the products and choose the best out of them. Besides that I'm also helping out Kuai Bing in doing the sales. We walked around the campus to get donations and promote our products. Although it was an tiring thing to walk the whole campus. We had fun and eventually got closer to each other. Besides that we also help out each other in preparing the orders. These lessons are important as we are going to work in a company or even start our own business in the future. Moreover, I also learned to approach people and socialize with them.
The topic I like the most will be organize. As I am a messy person in organizing my thoughts, I learned how to apply the organizing skills to organize my thoughts. The subject I dislike the most will be accounting as I dun like to deal with numbers. Joining the course made me realize alot of realistic sides of the working world and it also thought me to socialize better.

2D Design - Assignment 4 - ( Unconventional Batik)
Miss Lisa gave us a new assignment brief through facebook. It is a unconventional batik assignment which we need to get in a group of four and design a batik piece by using an A3 sized batik each. I group up with Jia Lun, Cong and Kokulan which is considered as a fresh thing for me as I had never been in a group with any of them except for Kokulan.
On the next day, we reached class early and discussed about our drawing style and things we like to combine in the batik piece. Jia lun suggested to use parrot in the batik piece. After that, we discussed about Cong's drawing style and decided to do a detailed drawing. Kokulan suggestion was to do a chain of animals from a particular country and mine was to use colours from colourful to monotonous. In combination of our suggestions, Jia Lun came out with an idea of using a food chain and apply it as the realistic part of our life. We discussed about the construction of the batik and decided to play around with only animals without the arrows which is normally drawn on the food chain diagram. After that, we chose the animals we wanted to use and decided to use a grasshopper as the primary consumer, frog as the secondary consumer, snake as the tertiary consumer and eagle as the last one standing. We came out with composition of a curve with the animals hurting or eating each other. While we were drawing out compositions which we desire, Kokulan's and Cong's idea coincidentally matches and we decided to use that composition.
After we proposed it to Miss Lisa, she asked us to draw the composition in a more detail way with the way we are going to connect the four batiks. We drew the actual design and showed it to Miss Lisa again. This time, she told us to draw on 4 a4 papers and connect it with a masking tape and distribute an animal for each of us to do. For me, I chose the eagle, Cong the snake, Jialun with the frog and Kokulan with the grasshopper and leaves. After we drawn everything on the a4 papers we combine it together and adjusted the size. We play around with the different sizes and came out with the final design which four of us agree and desire.
Below will be the process photos:
