2D Design - Assignment 4 Unconventional Batik

On the day of the batik trip, we gathered at the bus stop before 9. After we reached the destination, they demonstrated some of the basic techniques for batik drawing. Since our class had went to a batik trip before this, we already knew the basics and the way to do it. We were given a big cloth and each of us are given a part of the cloth. We placed our design below the cloth with masking tape and starts to adjust the placing of the design. Since our drawing needs to be connected we discussed for quite a long time about the placing and we even asked for oppinions from the batik expert. He guide us on the placing of the design and adviced us on the connection of the cloth. After that, we started the canting session and there were some helpers which helps us on refilling the wax and touching up the canting. One of our group members accidentally spilled some hot wax on the cloth and we decided to make it our design and it actually does'nt affects the batik piece much. After we finished the canting, Miss Lisa came to check on us and gave us a suggestion on finishing the body of the animals on different piece so it stands out even if it is on its own.

After that, we starts to paint. We first discussed on the colours we wanted to use  for the animals and the colours will be brown for the eagle, red for the snake,  green for the frog and golden brown with a slight tint of green for the grasshopper. After the short discussion, we painted our batik piece individually with some comparison between each other to check on the color tones since it needs to be connected. After awhile, Miss Lisa came to check on us again and it appears that one of the batik piece have some problems with the colors. All of us discussed on the ways to change the colors. After some hard work, all of the batik piece is nicely done. Although we are the last group which finishes thr batik, we are still proud of the outcome.
